7-19CoachMacNote:  Ray “Coach Mac” Pigott (pictured here with Team Hawaii Members) has juggled multiple roles for Team Hawaii 2013.  First and always a Wrestling Coach, he also became the Team internet blog correspondent, photographer, videographer and the Team Hawaii 2013 executive representative of the Hawaii Federation of USA Wrestling.  Thanks for all the great updates, Coach Mac!

Another early morning weigh-in, Zack Diamond makes weight for session 2 of the Cadets Freestyle and our Juniors make weight for their first Freestyle session. Many of these were cutting hard, so the cafeteria breakfast was extra tasty!

Team Hawaii wrestlers represented well! At the end of the day two were left on the hunt for National Titles:  Cadet Zack Diamond with a record of 6-1 after 2 sessions in the Cadet division and Josh Terao with a record of 4-0 with one bye after 1 session in the Junior Division.

A few of the wrestlers have left as planned with their parents! The rest of the wrestlers who are done this year have time to reflect, they can stay up late, eat whatever they want and socialize; as they sit together in the stands and support their team members still wrestling, I know each of them imagine themselves down on the mat! As coaches we do encourage them to relax, enjoy, and for the All Americans rest on their laurels for a while! Once we get back to the islands, we will announce clinic, practice and tourney schedules as we start training for next year!

For now everyone’s  priority is to support Zack and Josh as they represent; whether you are here in the Fargodome, or following at home in the Islands, or any where around the world, support these boys as they represent!

Stay tuned, I will blog more tomorrow!
