Jimmy:

You can read about our trip in the Featured Blogs under the section devoted to the World Championships at TheMat.com. I suppose you could link into it.

There's video of an interview with Stephany Lee shot in the lobby of the Cosmos Hotel. She Iolani-ed her hair for the tournament.

Hello!

I'm the staff person at Pacific Buddhist Academy responsible for communications. If possible, I'd like to use the photos of QUINN NAGATANI on this page (v. Aoki) and also on the HHSAA State Championships-Day 1 Coverage (2/27/10, v. Fines) page.

This past July, Quinn came in second in her weight category at a freestyle tournament in Fargo, ND. There were no pictures taken of her at that event, so for the newsletter article I'm writing I'd like to use yours just to show her on the mat.

I'll need high resolutions files of the photos. Please let me know who I should contact to arrange this.

Thank you!!

Warmest regards,
Kathi Takakuwa

It's worth pointing out just how big (and tough) this tournament is -- check out the size of the weight classes above - 91 wrestlers at 125?! And weight classes with over 120 wrestlers is not out of the norm.

Not only is this the largest wrestling tournament in the world, the caliber of competitor is exceptionally high. A wrestler can go 6-2, beating state champions and All-Americans, and still not place. Earning a medal in Fargo is truly a huge accomplishment.

Actually, "jimmy romualdo", this is what happened in the 135 lbs. 2010 Championship match:

First injury timeout was 59 seconds.

Second injury timeout was 44 seconds.

Both were duly recorded. At the request of the Kamehameha Coach, the match referee checked the injury time outs. The time totalled 1 min. 43 seconds. The referee checked his math at least 3 times, consulted with the second referee, and called the match for Luning-Hoshino.

Romualdo DID shake hands with Luning-Hoshino, using his left hand. "Wrestling Fan" above is wrong about that. Also, Luning-Hoshino embraced Romualdo with a hug, which Romualdo seemed to accept, but not return.

Romualdo also DID go directly from the center of the mat to shake hands with the Kamehameha Coaches in their corner, again, using his left hand.

During Romualdo's handshakes with Luning-Hoshino and Kamehameha coaches, Romualdo's coaches never intervened.

Romualdo then walked from the Kamehameha coaches to his coaches slowly, looking somewhat confused, but not storming off. I believe "Wrestling Fan" also inaccurately characterized that.

Only one of Romualdo's coaches shook hands with the Kamehameha Coaches. The one who got the penalty point assessed against Romualdo did not.

Romualdo had an emotional outburst after leaving the mat, repeatedly striking the drapery material covering the head table scaffolding.
